As some of you already know that Gunner had a CT Scan today because he has been having pain in his neck where he couldn't even lift if up and his occasional limp in his right front leg. We finally took him to an orthopedic specialist and got some answers.
He does in fact have a herniated (bulging) disk and it will require surgery to make him free of pain and furthur injury.
We are hoping to get him in for surgery on Wednesday before I leave for my scrapbooking retreat on Friday. I am hoping surgery goes great and I can be "worry free" on the retreat. Is there such a thing? Not in my life!
Anyways, this is going to cost us a lot of money, but for Ken and I it is worth it. Gunner is worth it. We are going to need to make sacrifices, but Gunner would do anything for us and has been our best friend for the last 6 years and we owe it to him to make him comfortable and happy for as long as we can. As Ken has told me and his family Gunner is young and we aren't ready to let him go yet. Will we ever be? I'm not sure, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. Right now, we are trying to take it one day at a time.
Please pray for us and for Gunner. That the surgery goes great and that he will be back to his playful self in no time!
I'm scared to death, but I have to trust that the dr's know what they are doing. And pray that God will be with them as they do this delicate surgery.

Jen,
You are in my prayers. Let me know if you want me to watch Kam when the surgery happens. We don't have any kids in the morning and only 2 in the afternoon. Herniated disks are not that uncommon in dogs and the doctors know what they are doing!
Hey Butters! You be a good dog and just take it easy for awhile! Let your mommy and daddy take care of the rest! They love you more than life itself it shows daily!
Jen and Ken, We are praying for the best! It sounds like you have one heck of a doctor! If we had the money we would give it to you in a heart beat! Gunner is a great dog! He will be fine and we will be praying for a quick recovery becuase I trust everything will be ok!
Kam, See you Friday! Love you and miss you lots!!!
xx
OO
I would want to do the same thing. I hope Gunner recovers well! The hardest thing is remaining still enough to recouperate well. Yous guys will be in me prayers.
I applaud your decision to go ahead with the surgery. Gunner is a very special dog - to lots of us.
Isaiah and I love to see Gunner since we don't have any pets of our own. We are sending prayers your way!
Our prayers are you with you guys also. Jen, if you need any help you know I am there for you guys. All you have to do is ask. I have no plans on Wednesday. Can make it whenever you need me. I wish I would have had my dog longer than a year. But he was taken away because he decided to cross the road going after a rabbit and didn't stop at all. So a truck came by and you know what happened. So I do know how attached you become to animals. He was my best friend. My little partner in crime. My buddy. You made the right decision. He is too young for the alternative to happen. He will make it just fine, and will be back to his playful self in no time. See you soon!
Best of luck to you Gunner! You are in my prayers. You have a very special family who takes good care of you...so get well soon!
